Now i can't even boot from the USB drive to do the installation.

Out of curiosity i unplugged my second external drive, rebooted, made sure the boot order was still valid and this time round it goes straight into windows without the bootmgr error message. During boot up, the computer complains that 'bootmgr is missing, press ctrl-alt-del to restart'. I setup the USB drive again as per:, copy the files over, and restart. Somebody please explain what is going on here.the installation files are for a 64 bit version. I don't understand what's going on here.unless the 32 bit BOOTSECT.EXE screwed things up? I tried it again, and again it gave me a 32 bit installation. Okay so i did some more searching and found a site where someone said windows 7 can't boot from external HDDs (or something similar).
